Court have sentenced two former members of the notorious billionaire kidnapper, Evans to 41 years in prison.
During an Ikeja High court sitting in Lagos State on Monday, two convicts have been sentenced to 41 years in imprisonment by witnessed Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the convicts, Kelvin Emenike Ukoh and Emeka Obasi were sentenced for the abduction of a shipping agent by name, Ugoje Jude and one of his staff, Miss Piriye Gogo in August 3, 2012.
The convicted criminal were members of the dreaded billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, the convicts were arrested in 2013 alongside three others, Chibuzor Osuagwu, 33 years, Uche Igbani, 28 years, and Onowu Ngozi, a 36-year-old woman on a 14 count-charge bothering on murder, robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy.
The shipping agent, Ugoje and his staff, Piriye Gogo were kidnapped by the gang and were later taken to an unknown place by the gang leader, Evans.
Miss Gogo narrated that she almost got raped and how she flagged down the police patrol and they saved her after the three men took Jude away while holding riffles.
Jude also, while testifying in court said that his abductors initially requested the sum of N10m from him for his release but later, after some negotiation agreed to accept N5m.
After listening to the testifiers, Justice Taiwo sentenced Obasi and Ukoh to 5, 15 and 21 years in prison for murder, robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy respectively, while the other three, Osuagwu, Ngozi and Igbani got discharged and acquitted by court.
The Judge said that the prosecution were unable to prove that those acquitted had links to the alleged charges of murder, robbery, kidnapping and conspiracy.
